Morning all. I’m back from a long weekend, and I’m feeling a little conspiratorial today (hence the tin foil hat). So, indulge me if you will.
In China, they are dealing with a surge of COVID cases, according to CNBC, about 1200 symptomatic and 27,000 asymptomatic cases on Sunday. This is in response to the BA.2 variety of Omicron, the subtle, sneaky, and more transmissible variant that for the most part results in mild or asymptomatic infections.
This news, of course, is “troubling” for many in the US health establishment, and is something that we should be monitoring. Videos coming from China of people either wailing or cheering each other on as the government locks thirteen million people in their own homes.
Here in the states, President Brandon…erm…Biden is warning about food shortages. Gas prices continue to hover at record highs. Food prices are increasing. The supply chain continues to be strained. And the administration doesn’t take any responsibility for anything over the last year. They blame Trump, Putin, COVID, and Republican opposition.
Is it entirely possible that we’ll see lockdowns before the election? Imagine, the story coming out about how “dangerous” this new variant is, and how this will overwhelm the health system and endanger our way of life. They will claim that we need to re-implement lockdowns “for public safety.” They will say that it’s so dangerous that we need “only essential workers” out again, that we need to implement basic income for “non-essential workers” and send out universal mail in ballots for everyone so they don’t have to “risk their lives” to cast their votes. Meanwhile, the propaganda arm will do their part to churn out images of people in hospitals (probably recycled footage from 2020) and the “experts” will all say just how dangerous this is and that we need to give the government even more emergency power and that it will only be a couple more weeks or months of this.
Will it happen? Who knows… But if a government has been given emergency powers, do you think it’s entirely possible that they will find emergencies to maintain those powers?
