Thought of the Day – 3/28/22

Self-control and self-sufficiency are two of the worst things for those wishing to control the system and make everyone else dependent. I was listening to the Tim Pool IRL podcast as I do daily, and I understand better (albeit not perfectly) why the push for a great reset happens. People with means, control, and influence often have an inflated sense of self. Their ability to network, and the connections that they make combined with their insulation from the effects of the daily grind give them an opportunity to think about many of the larger issues that impact our world.

But I think that this is what causes many of the problems of centralized power and authority, and leads to the repetitive cycles of struggle and revolution seen time and time again. It is the exception, rather than the rule, that we have someone given great power who willingly relinquishes it. The legendary figure Cincinnatus, George Washington, who prevented a coup from his officers during the birth of our nation. Even in literature and movies this trope is uncommon. Captain America (Steve Rogers) knew what it meant to feel powerless but had a caring, compassionate, and noble heart. The super soldier serum amplified those traits along with his physical prowess, mental acuity, memory, and relfexes.

Being self-sufficient means that you can put yourself on a level footing with those trying to control things. It gives you the chance to say no, which is a huge bargaining chip, and something that they loathe you for. For them to essentially, as the Godfather movie says, make you an offer you can’t refuse, isn’t an offer at all.

So, as we stumble back into the darkness of serfdom, we shall see how re-discovering our self-sufficiency will be the great equalizer.
