It doesn’t matter who you are, it is only a matter of time before you too will be targeted for cancellation. Today’s target is Adele, the 2022 Brit Awards Artist of the Year winner, who declared in her acceptance speech that she loves being a woman and a female artist. To the woke church of progressivism, she has committed a cardinal sin. Below is the evidence of her blasphemy, if you care to take a listen.
Personally, I think Adele is an amazing artist, and I am proud of her weight loss journey. The two most common critiques of her acceptance speech are that it is “transphobic” and “fatphobic.” Transphobic because she is proud to be a woman and a female artist, and fatphobic because she only feels this way about herself because she lost a lot of weight. Both of these “critiques” are shallow and demonstrate how some in the trans community are simply being bullies. Food for thought, if you are proud of your identity, proud of the person you truly are as a trans person, then why is someone being proud of who they are as a cis-gendered person so damaging to you? Why is being proud of yourself for losing weight and proud of the effort you put into losing that weight so sinful to those in the “body positivity” movement?
Me personally, I just started a weight loss competition with my fiancé for our wedding. winner gets to go watch a football game of their team, and the loser has to buy jerseys. It doesn’t make me fatphobic to want a healthier life for myself. If you wish to be a person sitting on the couch eating whole pizzas by yourself (which I have done), and think that is healthy, by all means go for it. Live your best life, however you define it. But I’ve grown so tired of the same people clamoring for acceptance of whatever they define as “their truth” to turn around and say that “my truth” is no longer acceptable. Either the standard is no one gets to be judged for their behaviors or everyone gets to be judged for their behaviors. These are the rules now, and I was content not playing the game.
But more and more, I feel like I am being dragged into this, and it feels less and less like a game, and more and more like I am being coerced into speaking platitudes just to “play nice” with people who trash my beliefs, my life choices, my decisions, my associations, my philosophy, my traditions… And if I dare so much as to say anything to the contrary of their dogma, that they will come after me, my family, my livelihood, my social groups, and my friends. That’s not an equal footing, that is bullying at best, and an inquisition at worst.
The continuous push toward equity will result in every dystopian hellscape version of authoritarianism that is associated with socialism, communism, and fascism. Equity can only ever push people down.

My concern is that the people demanding such religious adherence to their movement have taken control of the levers of power. There was a Faustian bargain made in 2020, with the unification of the masses against Donald Trump, with many pulling in the same direction. I do not call it collusion, but rather collective individual action. Rich people seeing the opportunities to increase their profits and portfolios, politicians wishing to hold onto emergency powers, news organizations wishing to demolish their upstart competition, social justice organizations wishing to abolish corrupt institutions from within, climate change activists wishing to radically transform the way in which our economy functioned, trans activists wishing to redefine the meanings of legal jargon to force companies and corporations to bend to their wills.
All of them were bound together by their hatred of the evil orange man. And now that they all have a grip on the levers of power, we see the dysfunction on full display. No one of them can proceed unless another of them becomes subordinated. The hierarchy hasn’t been solidified, and each of them believes that they have the superior viewpoint, and wish to clamp down upon the others.
This is why I’m tired of all of it. Something as simple as an award show for millionaires to bask in their talents isn’t immune from becoming a political issue. There is no escape from the new crusade of Progressivism. And it will become an actual crusade, with many deaths, if they keep pushing. This isn’t a threat, it is a warning, based on every historical measure. Oppressed people will find a way of striking back. You would think that these marginalized folks would have recognized the need for restraint, that they would have recognized that they now occupy the position of oppressor, and should wield that power lightly.
But as the old expression goes. Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
