I will start by saying that if Biden wins, I will respect the win. I will accept that for the next two to four years we’ll live with higher taxes and the expansion of cancel culture, the ease at which we label people German National Socialists, bigots, racists, sexist, this “ism,” that “ic.” I’ll live with it, and figure out how to refine my arguments and find another avatar for my political beliefs. And I’ll remain hopeful that we can get through this nightmare scenario we find ourselves in today.
I’ve already cast my vote. For the record, I voted for Trump. If that means my opinion was void at this point, then thanks for tuning in this far, but I guess that this isn’t meant for you. If you’re being fueled by the rage machine and you’re looking for a reason to destroy me, then here’s your in. But if you’re wondering why I would have done this when I’m a libertarian and Trump is an evil orange man, then take a moment to listen.
Everyone has their priorities, things that, when push comes to shove, are the must haves. For me, individualism and personal liberty are two such things. What we have right now is a clear and distinct ideological difference, a collective world based upon collective identity and equality of outcome with little hope of redemption versus a world where people can and do make mistakes, can and should be responsible, and can and will be successful if they adopt the values of success (hard work, delayed gratification, thinking for the future, family values). I believe that regardless of your background, if you are willing to do what it takes to realize your dream, then you can and will succeed.
Regardless of what happens, I will make my position known. What little I have, I risk. I’m not rich, I’m not well connected, but I believe that God has put it on my heart to use my ability to speak and reach out to people and practice the patience and mercy that I would want to see in the world.
