Thought of the Day – 4/14/22

It is concerning to see how far the neo-progressives have shifted to the left. What people say about how the Overton Window has shifted is true. On many issues, it seems like the acceptable range of policy has resulted in the middle, or those who consider themselves classically liberal to be lumped in with the “alt-right.” The right, center, and “alt-right” are all being labeled as “right-wing.”

The freedoms that we hold dear in our Constitution – freedom of speech, assembly, the press, religion, and petition. The protection against illegal search and seizure. The sovereignty of the states, the notion of citizenship, the rights of the people to engage voluntarily. These ideas have become foreign to the Democratic Party leadership, and much of the quasi-religious progressive base.

To be in good standing in the Democratic Party, it seems that you need to believe the following:

• Men and Women are Social constructs, irrelevant to biology or natural law. There are no medical, physiological, psychological, or social differences between men and women. Trans women should have equal access to cis-women spaces, and anyone who feels uncomfortable with this is transphobic.
• Children should be taught sexual orientation and gender identity as early as preschool, and the parents should be left out of the process to prevent them from indoctrinating their own children with their religious or moral values.
• Social programs should be expanded without regard to cost.
• Borders are inherently evil because they oppress immigrants and create obstacles to the free movement of people.
• Our country is inherently evil, founded on the original sin of slavery, codified in our founding documents and institutions. Nothing “significant” has changed between the founding and today.
• In order to have a “valid” opinion on any subject, you must be a credentialed person from an accredited college or university.
• In order to be a “good citizen,” you must obey any and all directives, recommendations, health orders, executive orders, or other state mandates without question.
• We must ween ourselves off of fossil fuels, using only “renewable green” resources like wind and solar.
• We must promote abortion up to and even past birth, and celebrate the “essential women’s health procedure.”
• You must repeat any statement from the preferred in-groups without question, whether you believe it or not.
• The government should be the final authority in all matters, from the family to education, from birth to death.
• Your opinion only matters if it complies with the ever shifting terms and conditions.
• Only the state should have guns, but the police should be abolished.

There is more to it, but this kind of rhetoric is foreign to many people’s beliefs, and yet we’re supposed to believe that these are mainstream ideas. And deviation away from any one of these notions means you’re a member of the “right-wing.”

I’m hoping that the logical conclusion to all of this is that people realize how insane the Democrats have become, and finally realize that the two-party system is a deeper problem with this country.
