Thought of the Day – 3/23/22

I have come to realize that America is broken. And I’m just… okay with it. I recognize that we’re forming parallel economies based upon our preferred political teams, and we’re going to diminish our support for the “other side” more and more over time. I’ve signed up for Jeremy’s Razors, ditching my Harry’s because they choose to exclude a section of the American people because they have “misaligned values.” I stopped watching most mainstream media because I don’t wish to watch such hypocrisy from media organizations that engaged in election “fortification.” My viewing of movies is down because many films in Hollywood are essentially “woke garbage.”

And honestly, I’m feeling better. I don’t get bombarded by organizations and institutions that demand I swear fealty to them, that I feel guilt over the color of my skin, that I should be ashamed of my desire for traditional values, that I should hate my country today for historical transgressions, that I should give the government even more power and control over my life, that I should blindly follow the authorities, that I should trust the institutional sciences, that I should ignore evidence of corruption, that I should support the movement toward war, that I should embrace “the New World Order,” and that I shouldn’t believe what my eyes are telling me when it comes to the differences between men and women, what our politicians are suggesting, how badly our politicians struggle through even the simplest of speeches or can spend a minute or two saying absolutely nothing.

I’m not disengaged, just aloof. I’m not partisan, I’m anti-establishment. My trust in the government acting in good faith for the people is plagued with examples of corruption, hypocrisy, lies and fraud to ever be undone, and I now work to elect people who will free and liberate the people from the yoke of the centralized authority of the federal government. I still think our system, and to some extent government, can be redeemed and reformed, but that now comes with a heavy dose of skepticism and distrust. I better understand the thoughts and feelings of the founders, living under the weight of the monarchy. The neo-gentry does not understand the plight of the everyman, the daily grind of the peasants, or the mechanisms that make our economy and society function.

If you think that what I believe is terrible, hateful, or awful, then you are allowed to think that, and I am allowed to disengage with you. If you support a company that hates me for my beliefs, then I can support companies that doesn’t care about my beliefs, or better yet, that believes like I do.
