There is no war in Ba Sing Se

Our media lies regularly. We’ve been lied to regularly for some time now. Whether it was being told by Dr. Fauci not to wear the N95 masks because they needed to keep them for the healthcare workers, being obfuscated about the crisis at the border and told that using the word “surge” is pushing white supremacy, or that there are no gas lines, or price hikes from the aftermath of the ransomware attack of the Colonial Pipeline.

The gaslighting of America is nothing new. We’ve seen the manipulation of the media at the behest of the government during World War I. Posters about the overt suppression of free speech were put out for patriotic reasons.

Our golden age is over, ladies and gentlemen. We are in the midst of very tumultuous times, in which many people are going to needlessly suffer. Our world view is less and less based upon rational thought, scientific discovery, and rational skepticism. We spend fewer and fewer moments thinking about what our actions will bring down the road. And the results are showing.

Our modern monetary theory ignores the impacts of mass money printing. The latest consumer price index numbers came out for April. The index, which per CNBC, “measures a basket of goods as well as energy and housing costs, rose 4.2% from a year ago, compared to the Dow Jones estimate for a 3.6% increase. The monthly gain was 0.8%, against the expected 0.2%.” Building materials like lumber are up 124%. The last time we felt something like this was 2008. I vaguely remember something else happening during this time… I wonder what it could be?

And what do our “leaders” think about this? Well, for most of them, they are far too insulated to feel the effects of the inflation. Per OpenSecrets.org, the majority of the 116th Congress are millionaires, and I am certain that the 117th is little different.

The promises that President Biden have made, and the actions that he signed into existence have resulted in a renewed conflict in Israel as Hamas launches rockets into civilian zones while the IDF hunts military targets with collateral damage on both sides.

Biden’s repeal of the Trump era policies have resulted in a huge border crisis. According to The Hill, we’ve seen over 150,000 “gotaways,” individuals that have entered the US while avoiding apprehension. There are thousands and thousands of children locked in “overflow facilities,” *cough* cages *cough*.

And yet, we must believe the media and the government. Yet we must listen to our wise leaders rather than our lying eyes. There is no war in Ba Sing Se folks, ignore those fire nation drills outside.
