For every action (force) in nature there is an equal and opposite reaction.

The COVID situation in this country, and closer to home in the state of California, is becoming similar to the second wave from the 1918 Spanish Flu. (And before anyone flings out the label of racism, it’s because the Spanish Free Press were the only ones reporting on it since Spain was declared to be neutral during WWI) We’re seeing increased lockdowns in the state, businesses being forced to re-close their indoor operations, and ICU capacity dropping to 0% in Southern California. This is unsurprising considering the spike from Thanksgiving and the overall colder temperatures. But the shutdowns are having an effect as well. Forcing people to stay shuttered in their homes and not allowing them to go out into the well-ventilated air is contributing to the spread. Exempting protests and religious services from the restrictions allows people to assemble in large numbers, effectively undermining the shutdowns, and of course, elected officials pushing these lockdowns are continuing to be caught violating the very orders that they expect everyone else to follow.
So we’re beginning to see the pushback, as the months of restrictions and infringements upon our freedoms takes their toll. Exacerbating this situation is the continued gridlock in Congress over relief, the mishmash of restrictions between counties, and the general lack of science-based determinations when it comes to determining policies ranging from lockdowns to vaccination schedules.
It is almost as if we’re beginning to see the repercussions of the various actions performed by disparate and unaligned groups against the governed population.
People want to understand. People need to understand. Humans have a desire to understand (as a species) not only that something works, but how and why it works. We desire to look at the universe and say I understand. And it seems more and more that the people making the decisions look at the majority of the country as useful idiots. Historically speaking, the persons in power are falling victim to their hubris like so many before, and succumbing to the belief that they are the “superior men.”
And in order to solidify their position atop the mountain, they are eroding the common people’s ability to learn, think, plan, and prepare.
We are in for a very rude awakening in this country. If we stay on this path, we’ll see a dystopian future that would make Hollywood blush. We could very well slip out of our first world status and crumble into obscurity, another civilization upon the ash heap of history.
This country is starting to crumble. And like the Romans, it began from within. Sure the Visigoths sacked Rome, but it was because the corruption became part of everyday life. Constant war and crisis after crisis are leaving this country riddled with debts that we’re never going to repay without massively inflating our currency. Our standard of living is eroding as young people struggle more and more to afford a lifestyle that is unsustainable. Our concepts of ethics, morals, objective reality, the scientific method, right and wrong, and humanity are being undercut. Our language and definitions are fluctuating to the point where communication is breaking down. We’re assuming motives without even bothering to question, and those assumptions are usually the worst kind, rooted in an inherent evil without any other possible thought.
Where the pushback ends, I don’t know. It almost feels like the Biden administration is akin to Nero, watching Rome burn as he plays the fiddle. Maybe Trump is Nero, and Biden is Galbo, but who knows? It’s kind of odd to be watching things spiral along the way they do. And it’s very possible that we’re spiraling into a second Dark Age, with the majority of people subjected to a life of toil and poverty, left in the dark, while the small cadre of insiders has the technology, wealth, and mechanisms of control.
And I don’t know weather any of it can be stopped. We are like Icarus, flying too close to the sun, and the wax is melting.
Long winded rant aside. The American people on the local level are beginning to ignore the mandates. The equal and opposite reaction to the hysteria generated by the media and elected officials. The people are becoming numb to those tactics. Fear only works until the population is desperate enough to ignore their fear. And unfortunately, that fear is being replaced by anger and rage.
