The Neo-Progressive Fascists are on the march again, this time with the 10k Summer Break Challenge. The gist of this whole thing is that an Asian content creator challenged “white liberals” and those who consider themselves “allies” of the cause to not post any content until September 22nd. The intention is pretty straightforward. BIPOC content creators (in her mind/opinion) are inherently inferior to white content creators and cannot achieve the level of success to white liberal content creators, therefore, in order to rise to the white content creators’ level of success, they need to not only stop producing content, but should actively share, like, and comment on BIPOC creator content. Essentially she is demanding that white liberal and “ally” creators take a paycut, shut up, and let the oppressed BIPOC creators have the space for the summer.
My response? I’m not sure where you are in the world, but did you feel the gust of wind created by my eye roll? Grievance politics and victim culture at its finest folks. There are many, many competent, creative, and savvy BIPOC content creators out there. I am a fan of meritocracy. Let the market decide. Of course, this should be rooted in an ethical society, and we’re far, far away from any semblance of that.
If you believe that in order for you to get ahead, you need to silence others, then you are a fascist. Go ahead and spread your message, but let others spread theirs too, and see who’s is more appealing. Behave with decorum and respect, and ask for “ally” content creators to promote, share, and comment. I’m sure that they would be delighted to. But challenge them to shut down their businesses for three months just so you can “get yours” (and in actuality it is that you want theirs)? No thanks.
But this is the norm now. If you are a “non-ally,” you must be destroyed. If you are an “ally,” you must submit to any and all demands that the wokies levy without question. That my friends isn’t allegiance, that’s subservience. You are a vassal not an ally if you are not allowed to even question the demands. You are a slave, not an equal partner if you do no mutually benefit. This type of behavior degrades the word ally and conflates cooperation with endorsement.
But many aren’t ready for that conversation.
