Thought of the Day – 3/31/22

You don’t know what you got ’til it’s gone. I was raised in a land of plenty. We had easy access to resources, abundant food supplies, relatively cheap cost of living, and a dollar that would be recognized the world over. That’s over now.

We are heading into a time of struggle and strife, of uncertainty and unease. We can’t always count on the resources being there, we have to survive a rising tide of inflation, and save where we can, and there is no certainty to the dollar.

I wish I wasn’t right. I wish we didn’t have to relearn the lessons of the Great Depression. I wish we weren’t going to be doing a sequel. I wish that I will be able to give my children (once I have them) a better life than me. My generation is the first with a lower standard of living than our parents. We’re going to be the generation that has to decide many of the world’s issues. We’re going to have to make the tough decisions. And I worry that my generation is not prepared for the weight of that responsibility.

But that’s where prayer comes in. That’s where realizing this world is temporary. Our individual impact upon it limited. Be good while you’re here, but prepare for your place in Heaven. I know it sounds transcendental, but the worse things get on Earth, the more I believe that God exists. For someone else, it could be the cosmos, the universe, another religious belief, or reincarnation. Who am I to know what the ultimate truth is?
