Thought of the Day – 3/17/2022

Happy St. Me day. It’s the joke I like to use every year, and I think that this year, I need to use humor much more. This non-sequitur is a small thing, and I think that we need to remember to laugh.

I think that our country has lost its mind. We glorify weakness and complain about privileges, argue over pronouns, and push to include everyone in the collective delusions floating around our culture. We are heavily divided, with little (if any) common ground.

We treat everything as a construct or a costume, malleable and wearable in order to get a desired outcome, spitting in the face of reality and objectivity. We fail to understand the larger world because we are so hyper-fixated on our subjective worldview. It is this weakness that will ultimately lead to our demise. We have detached ourselves from our purpose, our communities, our families, our culture, and in its place we have attached ourselves to goods, possessions, ideologies, materials, and the world is so much smaller for it.

So, the ultimate question is where do we go from here? How do we find purpose in a society that pushes us to be so isolated? The answer is difficult to find, and hard to achieve.
