Isn’t it ironic?

We live in a world of contradictions. The irony is laughable, or depressing depending on which mood you may be in. I think it’s most bizarre how the neo-leftists project their worldview onto others, often without taking the time to simply ask why. Case in point, the Daily Wire reports today that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are in trouble with the woke mob for being capitalists. According to the article, the couple signed a “multi-year partnership” with P&G, despite the company’s “controversial” marketing of skin-whitening products.

As I said before, the neo-leftists never bothered to ask why? Why would people in Africa and Asia want lighter skin? Why would this product be looked at favorably in those areas? If you look at the history of these cultures, it makes a certain degree of sense. Per The Diplomat, there are deeply rooted cultural norms involving white (read fair) skin.

In many societies, and especially in Asia, dark skin has long been associated with working in the fields and, therefore, rural poverty. On the other hand, pale skin is associated with living a more comfortable, cosmopolitan life indoors, out of the sun. Skin color is thus a sign of social class.

The Diplomat, “Where Does the Asian Obsession With White Skin Come From?”

But this irony goes deeper. Those who push Critical theory blame Western Civilization for this desire for light skin, seeing this as cultural projection, and not a result of anything more than these poor victims trying to embrace whiteness in a system that will never truly allow them in. Of course, those who actually practice western thoughts and values would embrace the hard working and educated folks, seeing not their skin color, but rather the values that they practice and say “welcome in.”
